# breaking into anything
"life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards."
- kierkegaard
so how can one break into anything? by not desperately trying. and naturally the question rises: if i don't try, i will never achieve. and that's correct. and not what i want to imply, it's quite the opposite. what i want you to do, is to do the thing. and the thing is undefined and always will be. because you don't get into something by focusing on this something. you get into something by collecting leverage. and you get leverage by doing the thing.
## early internet days
i firmly believe that the internet today has lost its use case. not based on facts, but my observation. you have the ability to obtain better and better data. you can read interpretations on the best philosophers in history for free, you can translate ancient greek philosophy to whatever language you desire, you can hunt every side quest there is. but in the end most decide to scroll reels, or tiktoks, on the iphone duo, maybe both at the same time who knows.
## a corrupted core
creating a larger and larger gap between those who were born curious and those who were not. because those who are born curious understand the internet, how to use it, how not to. what to do, what not to. and the most important aspect of this is the compound interest of starting young. zero obligations. and zero risk. use your time where you can be curious, and taste max.
## philosophy
and while the internet gives you access to all this information, no one uses it to break free, but uses it to copy the 500th b2b ai saas for dentists. copying a step-by-step, just focusing on chances. making the mistake by assessing chances. you should never assess chances in a roadmap style. they don't need to bring you closer to something, they need to give you leverage proportional to the risk. never rest. another concept: your body is not a temple. yes you need to be healthy, but feeling tired is not a reason for a dull mind, it's a reason for your mind to be laser-focused, it's a reason to go locked in, but not this social media winter arc, that again is purely to achieve a certain image. but the thing is the goal, and the thing should never be the reason, just the motivation. that's my definition of machiavellianism, not the purely evil opportunistic person, but the determined side-quester. the person that does something for no apparent reason, but with full commitment. someone who sees the result as leverage, not as a step on a roadmap.
## tasteful velocity
and the result is something i call tasteful velocity. tasteful velocity is a flow state. you have collected enough to understand what the thing is, you just start doing whatever you like, and if you start young it will compound, letting you take turns that just come up based on your personal taste. speed is nothing without a direction. and a direction is nothing without taste taking the turns.
that's the modern tech machiavellianism on how to break into anything.
best,
xaver
